This is facilitated by the increase in the cost of fuel around the world. And the ability to sail long distances under sail provides a tangible advantage and cost savings. A motor sailing yacht has a number of advantages over simple sailing yachts: effortless steering, most of the sail control is automated, good maneuverability, the ability to take reefs without leaving the cockpit.
During bad weather, and even more so a storm, the yacht can continue to move under the motors, without having to leave the wheelhouse.
In general, this is much more freedom and more comfort on the water.
With large fuel tanks and high power diesel engines (2x600HP) the yacht can travel very long distances with the same comfort as a motorboat.
